Ben and Matt cycle 200 miles for the Saints Foundation

In their longest ever challenge, SCPS' Ben Gregson and Matt Bean completed the Saints Foundation Big Bike Ride, cycling 200 miles over 2 days from the Bet365 stadium in Stoke to St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.

Ben and Matt raised more than £1,600 between them in an event that included 50 riders and raised in excess of £45,000 for the charity that helps underprivileged and disabled people of all ages with learning difficulties to play sport in the local area. We would like to thank the generosity of SCPS staff who sponsored us to support this worthy local charity.

P&O celebrates 175 years with grand event in Southampton

"In celebration of this exciting anniversary, all seven ships of the P&O Cruises fleet will be together in their home port of Southampton on the same day. This will be a first in the history of the company and we are delighted that Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal, is joining us for what promises to be a grand event."

P&O celebrate 175 year anniversary at Port of Southampton

On 3 July 2012 SCPS supplied 378 additional people to the Port of Southampton to cover 7 cruise ships calling at Southampton for the grand P&O Anniversary event. We like a challenge and this was far and away the busiest single day in our history.

South Coast Port Services temporary labour division worked extremely hard to achieve the labour targets required for this one-off event and we were delighted to receive superb post-operation feedback from our customers.

"South Coast Port Services and Solent Stevedores have developed a close working partnership over the last 10 years which has been based upon a good thorough understanding of each other’s needs and shared business cultures. The ongoing flexibility, exceptional levels of communication and knowledge of the business shown by both the management team and staff of South Coast Port Services in an ever challenging business environment, has enabled Solent Stevedores to be innovative when capitalising on new opportunities which have ultimately been beneficial to both parties.

On the 3rd July 2012, South Coast Port Services provided over 380 staff to assist Solent Stevedores in handling the 7 vessels in the P&O Fleet which were calling at Southampton as part of their 175th Birthday celebrations. This was a huge challenge for South Coast Port Services, however with excellent planning and communication over a 9 month period, our business requirements were met on one of the busiest days that the Port of Southampton has witnessed for many years."
